Anime NYC 2026: Last-Minute Travel and Transportation Guide

Anime NYC returns to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The four-day convention will bring anime, manga, gaming, cosplay, artists, publishers, screenings, performances, and creators from Japan and around the world to Manhattan’s West Side.
Event organizers describe Anime NYC as the largest anime convention on the East Coast, bringing together approximately 150,000 fans.
With large crowds expected throughout the weekend, attendees should confirm their tickets, entrance location, hotel, airport transportation, costume requirements, and return-trip plans before traveling.

Panels, screenings, gaming, cosplay, and other programming may continue beyond the Exhibit Hall’s operating hours. Attendees should check the current schedule before choosing a pickup time.
Arriving Through New York’s Airports
Visitors traveling from outside the New York area may arrive through:
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Passengers should confirm their airline, arrival terminal, hotel address, luggage quantity, passenger count, and pickup instructions before departure.
International travelers should allow additional time for immigration, customs, baggage collection, and communication with their assigned transportation provider.
Visitors carrying large costumes, artwork, exhibit materials, or multiple suitcases should provide accurate information when making a reservation. The selected vehicle must have enough legal passenger and luggage capacity.
Getting to the Javits Center
The Javits Center is located on Manhattan’s West Side near Hudson Yards and the Hudson River.
The Number 7 subway serves the 34th Street–Hudson Yards station, located directly across from the convention area. Regional rail passengers can also connect through Penn Station before continuing toward Javits.
Walking and public transportation may be practical for many attendees. However, families, groups, international travelers, guests with mobility needs, and cosplayers carrying large costumes may prefer a prearranged professional vehicle.
Traffic is likely to be busiest shortly before opening and after the final programs each evening.
Confirm the Correct Entrance
The Javits Center is a large convention campus with different halls and entrances.
Attendees should review their badge, registration, accessibility, professional, or exhibitor instructions before arriving. Drivers may not be able to stop directly in front of the desired entrance during the busiest periods.
Passengers should confirm:
The entrance they plan to use.
The exact street and cross street.
Their scheduled pickup time.
The driver communication procedure.
An alternative meeting location.
Whether costumes or purchases require additional vehicle space.
Saying “meet me outside Javits” may not provide enough information during a convention serving thousands of visitors.
Transportation for Cosplayers
Cosplay is a major part of Anime NYC, but elaborate costumes can be difficult to transport.
Before selecting a vehicle, cosplayers should consider:
The costume’s height and width.
Wings, armor, helmets, or removable pieces.
Props and carrying cases.
Whether the costume allows the passenger to sit safely.
The number of people traveling together.
Space needed for purchases and personal luggage.
Costumes and props must not interfere with seat belts, doors, emergency exits, driver visibility, or safe vehicle operation.
A costume or prop that fits inside a vehicle may not necessarily comply with Anime NYC’s admission and security rules. Attendees should review the event’s current policies separately.
Protect Collectibles and Artwork
Many visitors leave Anime NYC carrying prints, figures, books, collectibles, merchandise, and original artwork.
Attendees should bring appropriate protective bags, poster tubes, or storage containers. Fragile purchases should not be placed where they can move around the vehicle or create a safety risk.
Passengers expecting to make large purchases should consider the available cargo space when selecting their vehicle.
Family Travel
Anime NYC has introduced programming designed specifically for families and younger fans, including a dedicated Family Zone.
Parents should establish a clear family meeting plan and keep tickets, identification, transportation details, and emergency contacts easily accessible.
Before leaving the hotel, every family member should know:
The hotel’s name and address.
The group organizer’s phone number.
The planned meeting location.
The scheduled departure time.
What to do if anyone becomes separated.
Families using child safety seats should include that requirement when requesting transportation and confirm who is responsible for supplying and installing the seat.
Professional and Industry Visitors
Anime NYC is not limited to fans. The 2026 event also includes an industry-focused licensing summit for professionals working in anime, manga, gaming, retail, manufacturing, and Asian pop-culture licensing.
Business visitors attending meetings should allow additional time between appointments and convention programming. Meeting schedules, hotel pickups, and evening events should be organized before the day begins.
