New York Film Festival 2026: Travel and Transportation Guide

The 64th New York Film Festival will bring filmmakers, actors, industry professionals, international visitors, and cinema lovers to New York City from September 25 through October 12, 2026. Presented by Film at Lincoln Center in partnership with Rolex, the festival will feature major premieres, gala screenings, filmmaker conversations, international cinema, special presentations, and events at Lincoln Center and additional locations across New York City.

The festival opens on September 25 with the North American premiere of James Gray’s Paper Tiger, starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson. Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, starring Pedro Pascal, will serve as the Centerpiece selection on October 2. Ava DuVernay’s 14th will receive its world premiere as the Closing Night selection on October 9. The Spotlight program will also include anticipated international productions and special presentations, including the world premiere of Godzilla Minus Zero on September 26.

Travelers planning to attend should organize their tickets, airport arrival, hotel, screening schedule, vehicle requirements, and return transportation before the festival begins.

Event Information

The 64th New York Film Festival will take place from September 25 through October 12, 2026, with Film at Lincoln Center as its primary location in the West 65th Street area of Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Opening Night will feature Paper Tiger on September 25, Behemoth! will serve as the Centerpiece on October 2, and 14th will be the Closing Night selection on October 9.

Festival screenings may take place at Alice Tully Hall, Walter Reade Theater, Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, and additional participating venues across New York City.

Ticket holders should confirm the exact theater shown on each digital ticket. Two screenings on the same day may be held at different venues, so guests should allow enough time to travel between them.

Arriving Through New York’s Airports

Visitors attending the festival may arrive through John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, or Newark Liberty International Airport.

Before traveling, passengers should confirm their airline, arrival terminal, hotel address, screening schedule, passenger count, luggage requirements, and preferred vehicle category. International visitors should allow additional time for immigration, baggage collection, customs, and terminal transportation.

Airport-to-Manhattan travel times can change significantly because of traffic, construction, weather, security activity, and the time of day. Visitors should avoid scheduling an important screening too close to their estimated airport arrival, as a delayed flight, extended baggage wait, or congested Manhattan crossing could make a tight schedule impossible.

Getting to Film at Lincoln Center

Film at Lincoln Center’s primary theaters are located along West 65th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue. The Walter Reade Theater is located at 165 West 65th Street, while the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center is located at 144 West 65th Street.

The Number 1 subway stops at 66th Street–Lincoln Center, approximately half a block from the Film at Lincoln Center theaters. The A, B, C, D, and 1 trains also serve the Columbus Circle area.

The M5, M7, M10, M11, M66, and M104 bus routes stop within approximately one block of Lincoln Center. Garage parking is available beneath the campus, subject to availability and operating conditions.

Public transportation may be convenient for many guests. However, international travelers, families, industry professionals, groups, and guests attending formal premieres may prefer a prearranged professional transportation service.

Arrive Before the Screening

Film at Lincoln Center recommends arriving at least 15 minutes before the scheduled screening time. All films begin at the listed showtime, and bag checks are required.

Guests attending gala screenings, red-carpet events, filmmaker discussions, or high-demand premieres should consider arriving earlier.

Before leaving the hotel, guests should confirm the theater name and address, screening start time, digital or printed ticket, current traffic and weather conditions, bag and security requirements, and return transportation plan.

Visitors should not assume that every festival event takes place inside the same building.

Tickets Go on Sale September 15

General ticket sales for the 2026 New York Film Festival are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 15 at noon Eastern Time. Eligible Film at Lincoln Center members and pass holders may receive earlier presale access.

Digital tickets can be displayed on a mobile device, while day-of purchases must be completed through the box office serving the corresponding venue.

Popular premieres may sell out quickly. Standby and rush opportunities may be available for selected screenings, but admission is not guaranteed.

Visitors should purchase festival tickets only through authorized channels and carefully verify the date, theater, seating arrangement, and ticket conditions.

Plan the Pickup Location Before the Film

Lincoln Center covers several blocks and includes multiple theaters, plazas, streets, entrances, and underground facilities. Telling a driver to meet “outside Lincoln Center” may not provide enough information.

Before entering the theater, passengers should confirm the exact venue, pickup street and cross street, scheduled pickup time, driver communication procedure, secondary meeting location, whether they will attend a post-screening discussion, and whether traffic restrictions affect vehicle access.

The Jaffe Drive pickup and drop-off area is located near Columbus Avenue and West 65th Street. Additional pickup and drop-off activity may occur on surrounding public streets, subject to posted regulations, police instructions, and event operations.

Passengers should contact the assigned provider before leaving the venue so the driver has enough time to approach the agreed location legally and safely.

Transportation for Premieres and Industry Events

Festival schedules can include screenings, red carpets, receptions, interviews, private dinners, press events, and industry meetings.

A professional itinerary should include airport and flight information, hotel pickup time, screening venue and entrance, event starting time, expected screening duration, post-screening discussion or reception, secondary event location, and final hotel or airport destination.

Travelers attending several events should avoid relying on one general address for the entire day. Each destination and pickup should be entered separately, especially when the itinerary includes venues outside Lincoln Center.

Families, Groups, and International Guests

Families and groups should confirm how many passengers will travel together and whether the selected vehicle has sufficient legal seating and luggage capacity.

International guests may be traveling with suitcases, formal clothing, production equipment, or shopping bags. A standard sedan may not be appropriate for every reservation.

The following information should be provided accurately: number of adults and children, number and size of suitcases, required child safety seats, mobility or accessibility requirements, preferred vehicle category, multiple stops or separate pickups, and oversized equipment.

Providing complete information helps the independent transportation provider determine whether the requested vehicle can safely and legally accommodate the trip.

Accessibility Planning

Film at Lincoln Center states that its venues are accessible and provides accessible seating, elevators, hearing assistance, captioning options, and other accommodations for selected screenings.

The nearest accessible subway stations include 66th Street–Lincoln Center and 59th Street–Columbus Circle.

Guests requiring an accessible vehicle or additional transportation assistance should include those requirements when requesting service. Not every vehicle can accommodate every mobility device, so advance confirmation is essential.

How the LimoAllOver Marketplace Can Help

LimoAllOver is a digital marketplace designed to connect travelers with independent limousine companies and professional transportation providers.

Customers can submit their airport, hotel, screening, event, passenger, luggage, accessibility, and vehicle requirements through one platform. The marketplace can help connect the customer with an available independent provider authorized to serve the requested area.

LimoAllOver does not own the vehicles, employ the providers’ drivers, or directly perform transportation services. The independent provider accepting the reservation assigns the vehicle and driver and remains fully responsible for the safe, legal, and professional completion of the trip.

Every Provider Must Be Legal and Properly Insured

An independent provider must be fully authorized to operate in every service area involved in an accepted reservation.

Each provider is solely responsible for maintaining all required operating authority, business and vehicle licenses, driver credentials, vehicle registrations and inspections, commercial and for-hire insurance, airport and local transportation permits, passenger-safety requirements, and legally required records and documentation.

A provider must not accept a reservation for any location where it is not legally authorized or properly insured to perform the transportation service.

The provider remains responsible for the assigned vehicle, driver, passenger safety, trip performance, applicable tolls and permits, and the handling of any transportation-related incident, claim, or service issue.

Let the Story Begin on Time

The New York Film Festival is an opportunity to experience major premieres, discover international filmmakers, attend memorable conversations, and celebrate cinema in one of the world’s greatest cultural cities.

Visitors should confirm their ticket, check the theater, allow extra travel time, establish a precise pickup location, and select a vehicle that fits the passengers and luggage.

Plan the Arrival. Respect the Showtime. Enjoy the Festival.
